Social Networking and what is delivered in MOSS 2007

Microsoft have released a white paper on Social Networking in general and how to implement MOSS as a social networking platform. It’s a real pity that the Knowledge Networks add-on never got past RC 0 – it would have been the ultimate enabler for building up people’s knowledge profile. Ah well, at least it’ll be in the next version.

From the page…
Learn about the importance of social networking in an organization and how to properly implement Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 as a social networking platform. This white paper discusses why it is important to design a solution that encompasses the inclusion of data into Office SharePoint Server 2007 as part of a user’s profile. The white paper also presents strategies that can help to ensure that data from various sources don’t conflict, overlap, and cause inconsistencies in the social mining involved in creating colleague matches.

About Brad Saide

I'm a SharePoint consultant. I'm also slowly going bald, seem to have a permanent spare tyre around my waist and enjoy socialising with friends over a beer or 10. The last 2 may possibly be related. Started working with SharePoint when the first version was in limited beta release (participated in the Technology Adoption Program while at Woolworths) and have been committed to the adoption of the technology as a business enabler ever since.
