Publishing Feature Activated but Navigation link keeps coming up Access Denied in Site Settings – SP2010

Just hit a funny issue – I had a site we’d just done a migration on last night and I wanted to compare the settings in the Navigation between the source and the target. Every time I tried to open the Navigation link in the site settings on the source, I kept getting “Access Denied”… even as the Farm Account! All of the other Site Settings pages opened fine, but this one refused to.

After checking the Publishing features at both the site and site collection level, the penny finally dropped – it turns out the site lock was still set to read-only – changing it back to read/write fixed the issue immediately.

Aha, put this way, it wasn’t much a big shock if you got access denied on the target site collection!

Thanks for sharing that and I will constantly remind myself on this later on 😉
