Setting up Profile Searches…

There is a new step when setting up People Search which has caught me a couple of times now…

Step 1: In the Search Settings in Central Admin, define a default search “Content Access” account…



Step 2: Default Search content access account has “Read” as their User Policy on the My Site Web App.


Step 3: Make sure the My Site Website is in the “Content Sources” on the Search Centre (both SPS3 and HTTP protocols)…


Step 4 (new in 2010): Make sure the Service App has the Crawl “Content Access” account listed as an Administrator – Permissions are “Retrieve People Data for Search Crawlers”


This last step is the one that I kept forgetting… but no more!
